Well that was weird. I dreamed I bought a brand new Chevy Sonic in teal but my dream skipped over me actually driving it. For some reason it was actually the pre-facelift despite supposedly being brand new. I guess that makes this not quite as realistic as my Citroen DS dream (I’m still confused about how that one was so realistic)

Well, back to the Sonic . I dreamed I bought a brand new, which seems bad enough, but somehow I had overlooked some minor body damage on the sides that I couldn’t prove didn’t happen afterwards. And then I’m still stuck with a Chevy Sonic.

You can still buy a brand new Sonic hatchback in the color for $18,000 so I guess it’s not all bad. What Chevy calls Oasis Blue is a free color choice! At least my dream self didn’t decide to save $2000 and buy the sedan, which doesn’t come in teal.

Other than that, there’s not much to say. I woke up relieved I hadn’t bought a scraped up Chevy Sonic. It also appears they don’t offer a manual. Did they recently drop the option?

Boo!

Knowing that color is a no cost option makes the surprising number of dark gray ones parked on campus rather depressing. I’m pretty sure it was me looking at them yesterday that caused me to dream this.

Ok, a little gaudy especially with the white wheels, but I could dig this.

They used to offer it in Shock and Dragon Green, both awesome colors

Yeah, GM actually offers some cool colors on the Spark and Sonic. The Spark used to be offered in 3 different shades of pink, but now there’s only one left. And now, Shock is only available on the Camaro (they even offered it on the Bolt before, but not now)

I parked next to a manual Sonic RS the other day. I think if I was still single I could totally own one.

It would make a great city car to beat up on.

They seem like a half decent city runabout but I don’t really know what they are like to live with for highway commuting.

No idea. This is pretty much the definition of a car that’s way less fun with an automatic but it’s still one of the lightest cars you can buy here for not much money considering it’s a brand new car.

Can’t decide if this is auto or manual but looks fun either way

Until I got my e90 is was very very used to loud, cheap cars. I’m sure a brand new cheap car would be just fine by my standards. Plus 99% of my driving is in town and for less and 10 minutes at a time

I’ve driven a company-owned automatic in RS form , and found that it likes to shift pretty early (presumably for fuel economy). For example: if you level off your speed at 35mph, it’ll decide to go into top gear (6th), and the engine will lug if you try to maintain that speed with light throttle on level ground. You’re better off shifting it into Manual mode, but it’s not very responsive. Gear changes seem to happen about half a second after you press the + or - buttons, so you have to plan ahead in order to get it to shift exactly when you want.
